Having fun

Kids think they can do anything. They haven’t been knocked down enough by life to begin editing their possibilities. They believe everything is possible. As adults we need to cultivate the unedited voice in ourselves, to remember how much fun the world is when we can play with the possibilities. You once thought everything was within your reach. That fueled you with the energy to overcome obstacles, to find ways of expressing your creativity with almost limitless enthusiasm. But it can be hard to be a grown up, to leave childhood dreams behind. Being successful and achieving great things require huge amounts of energy. It can be tiring, frustrating, challenging, infuriating, and indeed scary at times. Yet it can, and should be, fun! In fact, for those who are successful the line between work and play is very blurry, if at all. There is nothing like getting so excited about what you are doing that the time and effort required to accomplish your goal seem to be minimal. It may not be necessary to have a single passion or to know exactly what you are trying to achieve, but it is critical to have fun. Doing things that feel like drudgery, even for a good reason, will eventually rob you of the energy you need to stay the course.
